What brings you to Upstate New York?
I was born here!
What is your favorite place to visit in Upstate?
Fall in the Adirondacks is pretty tough to beat. There is so much to see and the colors are incredible.
What is your absolute favorite food / bar / coffee spot in Upstate NY?
For something that is unique to this area, garbage plates from Nick Tahous in Rochester top the list. For coffee - Old Mountain Coffee Company in Keene NY.
What inspired your interest in photography?
That's a tough one. I like to create, whether it is music, video or photos.
What are your favorite elements of life to shoot?
I'd say long exposures of fast-moving water - waterfalls, mountain creeks, etc.
What’s your favorite part of your job/hobby?
It really depends on the day. Sometimes it is being out there looking at great scenery, and sometimes it is the editing process. It's also nice to see the finished product, though I am usually thinking about what I want to do next even before I'm done.
Do you draw any inspiration from pop culture that helps with creativity like a favorite book or movie?
Not so much for photography, but occasionally a certain "look" from a movie will inspire me to try it out.
What’s your favorite type of environment to shoot in?
Definitely in the mountains, during golden hour...and not too cold out.
If you could think of one song that encapsulates your style of photography what would it be?
Anything epic by Hans Zimmer or John Williams - I find film music tells the story the best
What advice would you give anyone who is interested in getting into photography?
Get out there, even if you only have your cell phone. The Internet is full of free resources - I have probably watched hundreds of photography videos on YouTube. I really do believe anyone can take great photos
